New music video for Old Guitar

We all have passions that help us write our life’s songs.  My biggest joys in life are my wife, Molly, the people close to me and my music… pianos, lyrics, drums and yes… Old Guitars. Old Guitar was inspired by the 1957 Martin guitar my father, Gary, played in college. My siblings and I would bang on the old family piano and strum the guitar as youngsters growing up in Humboldt county.  My Mom shared the guitar with me after Dad passed in 2000.  In the song, the “guitar” represents passions and people who have taught us and inspired us during our time on Earth.  We all have someone or something that inspires us to share and grow and learn.  Molly is the “guitar” who inspires me and sings with me as we stroll through life’s fields and songs.  What will become of the “guitars” we love once we are gone? We dream and hope they will continue to hold our magic and weave goodness and hope into time for years to come.  ~Tony

THE NICKEL SLOTS RELEASE “OLD GUITAR” MUSIC VIDEO AT GOLDFIELD SHOW

Sacramento, CA – August 21, 2017 – Sammie Award-winning Americana band The Nickel Slots will release the music video for “Old Guitar,” from their album Let It Ride, on September 8, 2017. The Nickel Slots will celebrate the release with a show at 8pm that day at Goldfield Trading Post, 1630 J Street in Sacramento, with members of other Sacramento bands performing together with them. The show is open to all ages and carries a $10 cover charge, and doors will open at 7pm.

The song “Old Guitar” is a love letter from a musician to the guitar that has carried him through many years, and the music video features many members of Sacramento bands and other friends and family showing their love for their own guitars. These include Pete Barker of The Brangs, Warren Bishop of Blame the Bishop, Greg “GB” Baxter of Loose Engines and Magnolia Thunderfinger, Mike Blanchard and Vinnie Montoya of The Californios and Tattooed Love Dogs, Natalie Cortez of The Ultra Violets, Chris “CC” Chaussee of The Brodys, Grub Dog of Loose Engines and The Amazing Sweethearts, the Keller Sisters, Wally Summ, Dennis and Anita Amaral, JonEmery Dodds, and Richard March. Some of these musicians will join The Nickel Slots on stage at the video release show.

For this video, The Nickel Slots again partnered with the directing team of Jason Knight and Sean Kime. Knight and Kime have directed two previous music videos for the band, including the 2013 video for “The Devil’s Chain Gang.” That video won Best Overall Music Video at the Sacramento Film and Music Festival that year, and achieved airplay on major Country music video networks including Heartland TV, ZUUS Country, CMT.com, and Australia’s CMC TV and various other music video shows across the US, the UK, and Europe.

The Nickel Slots have been playing Northern California for nine years, and are in the Sammies Hall of Fame after winning multiple Best Country/Americana Band awards and a Best Live Performer award. The band has released three albums and an EP of Christmas songs and has toured in Europe three times, most recently visiting Belgium in July. In 2015 they opened for Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band at their sold-out Sleep Train Arena show.

Old Guitar was written by Tony Brusca and Steve Amaral. The music video for “Old Guitar” will be initially available on The Nickel Slots’ YouTube channel as well as their website www.thenickelslotsmusic.com.
